Mackenzie Lopez, a Prosser High alum, is the new health sciences teacher with Prosser High School. Mackenzie’s history in healthcare includes working in health administration and as a physical therapist assistant (PTA). She received her Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science from Eastern Washington University (EWU). While attending EWU, she worked as a personal trainer and strength coach for a physical therapy clinic in Cheney, Wash. She went on to receive her credentials as a PTA  from Spokane Falls Community College. She is married to her high school sweetheart, and together they have a 3-year-old son. After working in Spokane for some time, Mackenzie and her family made the decision to return to their hometown, where she has served as a fill-in PTA with Prosser Therapy Services. Mackenzie is excited to join the staff at PHS, and she is looking forward to teaching students about the human body, healthcare career options, and hands-on skills necessary for success in the healthcare field. The health sciences program will serve as prerequisites for the Health Occupations course with Prosser Memorial Hospital. This program will include anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, and an introduction to health careers.
