Profile in Courage Essay Contest
The Profile in Courage Essay Contest is back! We’re officially accepting submissions from high school students for this year’s contest. Students can now share an original essay describing a leader who demonstrated political courage as described by President Kennedy in his book, Profiles in Courage. Winners will receive one of 25 awards for college — including a $10,000 first-place prize.

As you know, or may be experiencing firsthand, going back to school is different this year. Brave teachers and students are doing their best to stay safe while continuing to learn and teach, all the while facing unprecedented challenges in and out of the classroom. We’re grateful for the work you are doing and hope that the Profile in Courage Essay Contest can be a constructive opportunity for your students, especially during a time when recognizing courage is more important than ever.
We want to ensure that all students have the opportunity to participate. Please help us spread the word by sharing the details and eligibility requirements linked here.
Thank you again for guiding our students through this difficult time. We’re wishing you all the best and hope you are and continue to be safe and healthy. We’ll make sure to keep you updated with the latest about the Profile in Courage Essay Contest as we approach the January 15, 2021 deadline.
Best wishes,
Esther Kohn
